Happy New Year 2013 !

Here are 10 things to add to your list of resolutions this year:

1. Make new friends: as we get older, making new friends can be quiet a task. Despite its difficulty, it is essential for character building to make new friends, so get out there and meet people. Make it a habit to always search for fresh blood.
2. Keep your old friends: don’t get too caught up in making new friends that you forget about the old ones. Your classic buddies are there to stay. They’re the most loyal friends you’ll ever get so don’t lose them. Call them every once in a while just to check up on them, and make sure to make some time for them.
3. Quit something: resolute to quit one bad habit each year. Whether it’s smoking, drinking, over-eating at night, or even smuggling coffee into the office; don’t allow your body to get hooked on anything or anyone. Quit an addiction you have or at least massively cut down on something.
4. Grow up: don’t sweat over the petty things. Don’t let the small things in life get to you. Decide to grow up and rise above all the grudges you’ve been holding this past year. After all, forgiveness is a wonderful trait to acquire this year.
5. Cancel a credit card: too much credit cards in your wallet will only lead to more junk online shopping. Cancel a credit card you don’t use often and get out of debt. Visit a financial advisor or ask an accountant friend to help you get your finances in order.
6. Less Starbucks: yes, that’s right. For 20$ a latte everyday on your way to work, this will only add up to 600$ a month on coffee. That could feed a family of 3 in Africa! Have your coffee at home and save your money or give it to charity.
7. Make someone happy: you could do that by giving a little kid some candy, an unfortunate person some money, or even by not sending silly Farmville requests on Facebook. Putting a smile on someone’s face will leave you with a big grin too.
8. Learn something new: like a new language or hobby or even sport. Make it a yearly thing to find and learn something new and to widen your spectrum.
9. Set realistic goals: by setting achievable and realistic goals, your list will not fail. Instead of writing down that you need to lose 20 kilos by next January, resolve to a healthier lifestyle with more fruits and veggies, and less donuts and eventually you’ll lose the weight AND feel good about yourself.
10. Share with friends or family: share your list with someone who truly cares about you. Encourage each other to adhere to what’s on the list and even remind each other to stick to it.
Enjoy your new year and remember, every day is a chance to get things right!
